Seiko SKX009K1 Automatic Professional Diver 200M - A Good Cheap Watch, A Review

I bought my first Seiko diver's watch; Seiko SKX009K1 Automatic Professional Diver 200M in July 2011 for RM499. Suggested retail price for the watch is RM3,500. Below are some photos of the watch.

It comes with the Seiko automatic movement 7S26. It has luminous hands and hour markers. The body is stainless steel case with blue and red screened Uni-directional rotating stainless steel bezel. Seiko's special Hardlex crystal comes standard. Rubber strap with a 20 mm width. It has day and date indicator at 3 o’clock position.

The hands as wells as the markers are lumed prodigiously with Lumi Bright, a  proprietary paint from Seiko. The lume on this watch is excellent.

I choose the black dial. It has a rating for water resistant to 200 meters. The crown is screw down. Approximate case diameter about 44mm (minus the crown). Approximate case thickness is about 13mm.

The screw-down case-back is decorated by the famous tsunami logo.

The crown of the watch is at 4 o'clock.

The watch is still rough when compared the ability of the crown to re-engage the thread. This implies the production tolerance for this watch is not refined.

The rubber strap does do its job properly in keeping it close to the wrist. However the shape the strap near the lugs makes it a magnet in trapping body hair. It does get painful sometimes. A nice brown leather strap would be a nice replacement.

Overall, a good cheap watch.
