Buy/Sell Recommendation: Orient Star GMT Reference DJ00001B - PASS

I did a review on the Orient Star GMT Reference DJ00001B back in October 2013. To read the full review, please click here: https://easternwatch.blogspot.com/2013/10/orient-star-gmt-watch-reference.html.

Below is a video of the watch on my wrist. After considering the positives and negatives of the watch, I recommend that this watch is a PASS. Unfortunately, the negatives aspects drowns the positives of the watch.

Positive TakeawaysNegative Points
  1. Sapphire crystal
  2. Internal moving bezel enabling tracking of three time zones
  1. Part of both crowns bite into the skin
  2. Poor lumination for an travelling watch
  3. One crown in a push-in/push-out while the other is a screw-down; inconsistent
  4. Power reserve scale too overwhelming

Final Thoughts

It does look exciting when viewed for the first time. However, once you spend time with it, the initial euphoria evaporates completely. In reality, the watch is just so-so and does not have what it takes to become a classic. Moreover, the poor design of the crowns (you can see it in the video above) caused them to bit into the skin when flexing the wrist.
